Jamshedpur, April 7: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy spoke to Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh on Thursday and urged him to take initiative to resolve various issues of his constituency.
In a statement issued here today, Roy said he had demanded basic civic amenities for the people of lease and non-lease areas of his constituency. “I raised issues like drinking water scarcity, electricity supply, drainage and cleanliness and sought the Chief Secretary’s intervention to provide a solution at the earliest. I told him that I had raised these issues several times before the district administration and also in the Jharkhand Assembly. But so far, I have only got assurances as no concrete measures were ever taken by the authorities concerned,” he said.
Roy alleged that a large number of households in a major part of Jamshedpur were still devoid of basic amenities. He said the people of bastis kept out of the lease agreement in 2005 are deprived of the basic amenities like water, electricity and drainage.
“In areas like Chhayanagar, Babudih, Lal Bhatta, Jojobera, Inder Singh Basti and Cable Town, people are facing problems due to inadequate amenities. I have informed the Chief Secretary about all this and asked him to ensure that these issues are resolved now,” said the legislator.
Roy said he had suggested the Chief Secretary to hold a meeting with the officials of revenue and urban development department to get his demands fulfilled.
