Ranchi: Janata Dal (United) MLA from Jamshedpur West, Saryu Roy, has strongly criticized the BJP for its lack of coordination within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the lead-up to the assembly elections. Roy pointed out that while the BJP is leading the NDA, no meetings have been held, and there has been no effort to formulate a strategy for the polls.
In his statement, Saryu Roy remarked, “The BJP, as the leader of the NDA, should have maintained better coordination, but there has been no strategy or plan in place. It is clear that the BJP has been handling its affairs alone.” Roy emphasized that Janata Dal (United) (JDU) would not remain a mere follower of the BJP in the state and would assert its position clearly.
Roy also criticized the approach of opposing the government from the outset, which he described as incorrect. “Being in the opposition does not mean opposing everything. The opposition’s role is to point out flaws and hold the government accountable, not to oppose just for the sake of opposition,” he said. Roy, however, acknowledged Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s leadership, calling him an experienced and mature leader who has served as the Chief Minister four times. He added, “If the government fails to fulfil its promises, we will raisese our concerns and protest.”
Roy’s comments also addressed the internal workings of the state government, particularly with regard to cabinet formation. “Chief Minister Soren should keep a close watch on the ministers’ performance. Not all cabinet members are equal, and if they work with efficiency and promptness, it will benefit the state,” Roy suggested.
On the issue of coordination within the NDA, Roy said that once the formalities of the swearing-in of MLAs are complete, a meeting of the constituent parties would be held. This could lead to the formation of a coordination committee, a move that JDU supports. The LJP (Ram Vilas) also favours this initiative, as expressed by LJP state president Virendra Pradhan, who stated, “A coordinated approach among the NDA parties will help strengthen the alliance and expand its reach among the people.”
