Jamshedpur: Renowned narrator Harivansh Vats Maharaj from Haryana, speaking at the Shri Harivansh Mahapuran event at Geeta Bhawan, Sonari, shared profound insights into the divine connection between offerings and ancestors. He explained that Lord Brahma’s sons were considered divine ancestors, and offerings made by devotees reached them in heaven and hell through the moon.

The event began on Thursday with a detailed exposition by the narrator on the significance, rules, and essence of Shri Harivansh Mahapuran, described as the quintessence of all Puranas by Ved Vyas. The Purana, he elaborated, was composed to enlighten Janmejaya, the son of King Parikshit, about Andhak and Vaishni.

Maharaj highlighted that there were seven divine ancestors in heaven, four of whom—Aryamma, Agni, Vairaj, and Manu—were worshipped as sculptors, receiving offerings through the moon. Conversely, ancestors in hell were not worshipped.

He emphasized the importance of offerings in atoning for sins committed through thoughts, actions, and speech. He also explained the dual roles of Gods: Brahma, who created the body, and those who imparted knowledge. Additionally, he noted that Yama, the son of Surya, determined one’s fate—heaven or hell—based on their deeds.

The event drew a large gathering, keen to learn about the timeless wisdom encapsulated in the Shri Harivansh Mahapuran.
