Jamshedpur: In a shocking incident that unfolded in broad daylight, a youth was shot dead near Carmel Junior College under the Sonari thana area, sending shockwaves through the locality. The victim has been identified as Suraj Pramanik, a resident of Parsudih.
According to sources, Suraj Pramanik was seated inside his autorickshaw in a field behind Carmel Junior College, seemingly waiting for someone, around 11:30 a.m. when two youths arrived at the scene. Without warning, they opened fire targeting him. In an attempt to save his life, Suraj managed to evade the initial attack and started running for safety. However, the assailants chased him down and shot him dead a short distance away before fleeing the spot.
It has been revealed that Suraj Pramanik had a history of enmity with local goons in the Sonari area, which led him to move to Parsudih about a decade ago. However, he had recently started visiting Sonari again, which sources believe may have reignited the old rivalry.
Police suspect that the murder may have been a consequence of this lingering enmity. “We are looking into all possible angles, but it appears to be connected to a past conflict,” stated an investigating officer.
DSP (Headquarters-II) Niranjan Tiwari, who arrived at the crime scene, said, “At this stage, we cannot confirm much about the motive or the assailants. The investigation is underway, and we are gathering all possible evidence to solve this case.”
The area has been cordoned off, and forensic experts are examining the crime scene for crucial clues. Eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage from nearby areas are being reviewed to identify the perpetrators and piece together the sequence of events.
