Jamshedpur Man sets house ablaze after family dispute

Jamshedpur: A shocking incident unfolded on Thursday in Golpahari Naya Basti under the Parsudih police station area, where a youth allegedly set his own house on fire following a domestic dispute, triggering panic across the densely populated locality.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Raja Prasad, had been creating unrest at home for the past three days under the influence of alcohol.
Around 11:30 am on Thursday, he reportedly assaulted his mother, Putul Devi, his wife, and their three children before forcing them out of the house. He then set a room on fire and fled the scene.

As flames spread, residents acted swiftly to prevent a larger catastrophe. Given the congested nature of the area, locals immediately removed LPG cylinders from nearby houses. Youths used water pipes in an attempt to douse the flames and managed to pull out a cylinder from the burning house just in time, averting a possible explosion that could have engulfed multiple homes.

On receiving information, the Jharkhand Fire Services team rushed to the spot and, with the help of residents, brought the fire under control. However, by then, the house had been completely gutted. Household items, including a television, refrigerator, clothes, utensils, and important documents, were reduced to ashes.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as family members had already evacuated. The accused, reportedly a driver by profession, remains absconding.
Parsudih police have initiated an investigation and launched a search operation to trace the accused. A written complaint has been lodged by the victim, Putul Devi, while locals have demanded strict action against the accused.
