Odisha Vigilance officers seized an additional Rs 5.16 lakh in cash on Saturday.
The recovery occurred during ongoing searches at the Rourkela flat of Suresh Kumar Dalabehera.
Dalabehera serves as the Principal of the Government Industrial Training Institute in Balangir.
Vigilance officials had previously caught Dalabehera taking a Rs 30,000 bribe from guest instructors.
He demanded the money to extend their service contracts and release their salaries regularly.
Following the successful trap operation, authorities launched simultaneous searches at several connected properties.
Investigating officers uncovered the additional cash during their thorough search of his residential flat.
The Vigilance department immediately confiscated the newly discovered cash as evidence in the case.
Team members are continuing their ongoing searches and investigations into his financial transactions.
Authorities expect to reveal further details as the comprehensive multi-location probe progresses forward.
Meanwhile, Vigilance officers arrested another state official in a separate bribery operation on Friday.
The team apprehended Odisha Revenue Services officer Manisha Mishra while taking an illegal payment.
Mishra currently works as the Sub-Registrar in the Baliapal region of Baleshwar district.
She allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 from a prospective buyer to register a land deed.
The land registration involved a 0.14-acre plot recorded under the Bajyapti Stithiban category.
Official government guidelines explicitly state that authorities must treat such land as Stithiban property.
The revenue rules clearly permit the regular legal registration of these specific land plots.
Despite official guidelines, Mishra repeatedly refused to clear the land documents without a payment.
She later lowered her illegal cash demand to Rs 7,000 after negotiations failed.
The frustrated complainant reported the harassment directly to the state Vigilance department instead.
Vigilance officers promptly arranged a targeted trap operation based on the detailed complaint.
Investigators caught Mishra red-handed while she accepted the Rs 7,000 bribe amount.
The arresting team immediately recovered the complete tainted cash sum from her possession.
Officers subsequently registered formal charges against Mishra under relevant anti-corruption laws today.
State Vigilance authorities continue their widespread crackdowns on corrupt government officials across Odisha.
