Jamshedpur: A tragic incident was reported from Bhuiyandih Babri Basti under the Sitaramdera police station area, where a man allegedly committed suicide after being denied money for intoxicants.
The deceased, identified as Dayal Bag (35), worked as a daily wage labourer at a timber yard and is survived by his three young daughters. According to family members, he returned home intoxicated on Tuesday night and demanded money to continue consuming intoxicants.
When his family refused, he became aggressive, assaulted them, and left the house. Shortly afterward, he took the extreme step of hanging himself.
Concerned family members later broke open the door with the help of neighbours after receiving no response, only to find him hanging. He was rushed to MGM Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.
