TMC’s Kirti Azad sparks row over Sita’s Agni Pariksha

Trinamool Congress MP Kirti Azad launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi on Sunday.
He questioned the party’s repeated references to the Ram Temple and accused leaders of using religion for political gains.
Azad stated that he visited the Kamakhya Temple but never visited the Ram Temple located in Ayodhya.
He explicitly added that he does not intend to visit the Ram Temple in the future either.
His remarks follow a political row over Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s proposed visit to Ayodhya temples.
The ruling BJP criticized the proposed December visit, calling it a deliberate political exercise before upcoming elections.
Speaking to news agency IANS, Azad accused the ruling party of stealing donations and exploiting religious sentiments.
He asked whether the BJP considers people non-Hindus if they worship Goddess Kamakhya instead of visiting Ayodhya.
Azad highlighted his connection to the birthplace of Goddess Sita while discussing her historical Agni Pariksha narrative.
He questioned the morality of forcing a wife through an ordeal and subsequently abandoning her afterward.
He declared that such mistreatment of any woman remains entirely wrong according to human values and ethics.
The Trinamool MP affirmed his devotion to the Kamakhya and Tripura Sundari temples despite skipping Ayodhya.
He confirmed that he will visit Mathura in the future instead of traveling to the Ram Temple.
Azad claimed that the ruling party lacks real governance issues beyond exploiting Lord Ram’s name for votes.
He alleged that the BJP orchestrates widespread corruption and thefts across temples throughout the nation.
He asserted that the party has established Ravan Rajya in the country instead of bringing ideal Ram Rajya.
The controversy continues to fuel sharp debate between opposition parties and the BJP leadership over temple visits.
