Jamshedpur: Major mishap averted on New Year’s night in Sakchi, SUV crashes into wall

Jamshedpur: A major accident was narrowly averted in Jamshedpur during New Year celebrations when an out-of-control Scorpio rammed into a roadside wall near a liquor shop in the Sakchi police station area past midnight.

The incident took place near Sagar Hotel around 12.30 am. The white Scorpio (DL-8-CAT-8087), reportedly moving at high speed, lost control and crashed into the wall. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the vehicle was completely mangled, leaving the SUV badly damaged and stranded on the road.

Fortunately, the road was deserted at the time of the accident, and no pedestrians were present. Eyewitnesses said the loud crash was heard from a distance, prompting residents to rush out of their homes.

Panic briefly gripped the area, with locals stating that the consequences could have been disastrous had the accident occurred when people were on the streets. On receiving information, local residents informed the police, who reached the spot and seized the damaged vehicle.

The driver is suspected to have fled the spot, and no clear information about the driver’s identity or condition has been confirmed so far. Police have initiated an investigation based on the vehicle’s registration details. Preliminary inquiry suggests over speeding and rash driving as the primary cause of the accident.
