Jamshedpur: Loot case accused attempts suicide in lock-up

Jamshedpur, Feb 23: An accused in a loot case, Afsar Hussain alias Afsar Bachcha, attempted suicide by slitting his neck with a blade in the lock-up of Mango police station on Thursday afternoon.

He was taken to MGM Hospital where his condition was reportedly out of danger. He was brought to the police station for allegedly assaulting one Vijay Gorai of Daiguttu near Iqbal Garden at Mango Road No. 1 and snatching money, a grinder machine and bike from him. The accused has a criminal past. He was jailed in Arms Act cases earlier, police said.
