Jamshedpur, Dec 12: The city administration on Friday launched an intensive operation to capture and relocate stray cattle from major roads, addressing a growing safety concern for commuters.

The drive, led by the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) with support from municipal teams, the Animal Husbandry Department and local police, began early in the morning across key routes including Sakchi, Bistupur, Mango, Kadma and Sonari.

Frequent disruptions caused by stray cows and bulls had led to traffic congestion and increased accident risks.
Responding to public complaints, authorities initiated the special operation at 7 a.m., using nets and trolleys to safely capture wandering cattle. Several animals have already been secured.

Officials said the operation is being carried out with utmost care.
Trained personnel are ensuring that no animal is harmed during the process.

The captured cattle are being kept in temporary shelters for health checks before being shifted to a gaushala outside the city for long-term care.

Residents have welcomed the move, noting that the presence of stray animals on busy streets had become a daily hazard.

JNAC has also warned cattle owners that fines will be imposed if their animals are found roaming in public spaces.

The operation is expected to continue throughout the day, with authorities anticipating a noticeable improvement in traffic safety and flow.
