Jamshedpur, Feb 16: The sole solar powered water tower at Kondadih has been out of service for more than 18 months in Chhota Govindpur’s Kondadih and even after several rounds to the office of the authorities remain resigned to their fate vis-à-vis lack of basic amenities. It was reported that during this 18 month period, thieves had taken away major equipment to add to their woes of drinking water and toilet problems.

The villagers took their problems to BJP leader and social activist, Ankit Anand who went to the village to make spot verification and found out the pitiable conditions of the Kondadih villagers who told him that a single solar powered water tower was insufficient to meet the demands of a large populace. Ankit remarked, “Non-availability of clean drinking water and toilets in houses are two major problems that the Kondadih villagers are facing.”

The villagers informed him that neither people’s representatives nor department officials ever gave them an ear to their problems. They said that being illiterates, they could not avail of several schemes launched for them. BJP leader Ankit Anand assured them that he would take up their issues personally and meet district officials concerned and urge them to ameliorate their problems. Ankit said, “I will talk to the BDO for construction of toilets and provision of drinking water facilities under schemes provided for the Kondadih residents.”

The BJP leader expressed concern that Kondadih being so close to company quarters and in close proximity of Tata Motors’ theme park, had not seen the face of development. “I am committed to the government’s Antyodaya scheme and with the help of local people will make efforts for the uplift of these people,” stated Ankit Anand.
