Jamshedpur karate coach to undergo advance training in Japan

Nageshwar Rao to participate in Okinawa Karate World Tournament

Jamshedpur, July 21: Steel City karate coach L. Nageshwar Rao will be participating in 2nd Okinawa Karate World Tournament to be held in Okinawa, Japan from 1 to 7 August, 2022.

Organised by Okinawa Prefectural Government, Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Nageshwar Rao is one among 16 persons from India invited to the tournament.

A 6th Dan, black belt Rao will leave for Japan on July 29.

Excited about the upcoming Japan trip, L. Nageshwar Rao said, “Affiliated members from all over world and world renowned Goju Ryu, Shuto Ryu, Shoto Kan, Wado Ryu, Uechi Ryu, Shorin Ryu style grand masters will be attending the tournament. I am among 16 persons from India invited to tournament and looking forward with great anticipation to make a mark. All the participants have been issued VISA with the help of Japanese Government,” Rao added.

He informed that Yasuhiro Tamaki is executive committee chairman of the tournament.

Later, L. Nageshwar Rao will undergo advanced karate training under world grandmasters from 8 to 14 August which will hugely benefit him with training techniques.

Tata Steel Sports Wing employee, Rao is also scheduled to meet grand masters Hanshi Katsuyuki Fukatoshi, Hanshi K. Takasaki, Kancho Zansuki Hamawaki in the island nation.

“During my stay in Japan I will also visit graveyards of founder grandmasters of karate and will perform karate training with proper karate GI and also offer prayers,” added Rao.  

It is worth mentioning that Rao had been to Japan in 2007 and 2012 for training during which he got the title “Shihan” and 6th Dan, black belt.
