Jamshedpur: Nishchay and Anishka crowned winners of U-9 Chess Championship

Jamshedpur, July 21: East Singhbhum District Chess Association (ESDCA) organised under-9 Open (Boys) and Girls Chess Championship on the occasion of International Chess Day at JRD Tata Sports Complex on 19-20 July.

Nishchay Singh Rana with 5.5 points has been declared the winner in the boys category.  Abhigyan Singh and Mayan Jha bagged the second and third position respectively.

Advik Kumar was placed fourth in the points table, Reyansh Jagnani fifth, Kabir Kedia sixth, Rudra Nil Roy seventh, Darsh Gaurav ninth followed by Purav Rushabh Gandhi.

In the girls event Anishka scored four points to win the trophy. Bidushi Munshi and Aadya Agarwal were placed in the second and third place respectively.

Chandani Alda was fourth followed by Saarandha Pandey at fifth position, Laisha Singhania at sixth, Anushka Kumar Sharma seventh, Ananta Barnwal eighth, Arya Shree ninth and Monali Biswas was placed tenth in the points table.

The winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest Ashish Kumar, Head Sports, Tata Steel. Also present were NK Tiwary, Secretary, ESDCA, Awadhesh Kumar.

Chandan Kumar Prasad was the Chief Arbiter and Jayant Kumar Bhuyan was the tournament director and Chiranji Lal was also present.

30 Boys and 10 Girls participated in the championship.
