Jamshedpur, March 4: Several Hindu organizations led by Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Jamshedpur Mahanagar unit, staged a demonstration at the Jamshedpur Collectorate to demand withdrawal of police cases against anti-conversion activists. District BJP leaders also joined the protest.
BJP leader Abhay Singh said police had lodged FIR against several Hindu activists protesting conversion bid of certain missionary organizations in the city recently. These activists had lodged police complaint against elements engaged in the alleged religious conversion of Hindus, he said.

“Six months ago, several Hindu activists had informed Golmuri police about religious conversion activities going on in their area. Police arrested the accused persons, but also booked the Hindu activists which is totally inexplicable and malafide,” said Singh.
The protestors alleged that religious conversion was going on to trap innocent and poor people under some lure or promise at various places in the state including Jamshedpur. They said an attempt was on to disintegrate the Hindu society.
The protestors handed over a memorandum to DDC Pradip Prasad in favour of their demands. They threatened to take to the streets in case the government failed to withdraw the cases against Hindu activists and stop religious conversion.
The protesting outfits included Bajrang Dal, Durga Vahini, Dharma Jagran, Hindu Jagran Manch, Sanatan Hindu Samiti and Matri Shakti.
