Jamshedpur, March 4: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has demanded that the state government should consider the ownership rights issue of the various bastis (settlements) of Jamshedpur during its March 7 meeting on the Tata sub lease matter.
Roy, who sent a letter to the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand government in this regard, said, “State government is going to hold a meeting on the Tata sub lease issue. Regularizing the irregularities in sublease will be the main topic of discussion. In the various inquiries in the matter so far, it has been found that revenue rules were flouted in 59 sublease. I had raised this issue first in 2008 in the Jharkhand Assembly. It has been found that there have been irregularities. On many portions of subleased land, big buildings, hotels and malls have been erected. The government has been shy in taking a concrete decision on this matter.”
Roy said he was pleased to know that the state government was going to discuss the matter in the upcoming meeting. “The residents of various bastis of the city have long been demanding ownership right. There are also bastis settled on Jharkhand government land. Their residents are also demanding ownership right. I request the Chief Secretary to consider the demands for regularization and ownership rights of these bastis. A solution to these issues is still pending and awaited,” he said.
