Jamshedpur: An armed assailant opened fire inside a shop in Jugsalai market on Friday. Businessman Dinesh Kumar Beria, the owner of Unique Collection in Golchha Market, escaped death when a bullet narrowly missed him.
The Attack
The incident occurred while Beria was seated at his shop counter. An unidentified man entered the store and fired directly at him. Beria’s quick reflexes allowed him to take cover, saving his life. The sound of gunfire triggered a stampede-like situation in the crowded marketplace as people scrambled for safety. The attacker fled the scene immediately after the shot was fired.
Police Investigation
Senior officials, including City SP Lalit Meena and DSP (Law & Order) Tauqeer Alam, arrived at the scene with a heavy police contingent. Investigators recovered a spent cartridge from the shop floor and began reviewing local surveillance.
CCTV footage revealed that the suspects arrived in a maroon car. The recordings provided clear visuals of the individuals involved. According to victim statements and preliminary police leads, suspicion has shifted toward Sunny Sardar, a member allegedly linked to the notorious Manish Singh gang.
Security Concerns
City SP Lalit Meena assured the trading community that multiple teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend the suspects. Despite these assurances, the daring nature of the attack in one of Jamshedpur’s busiest commercial hubs has intensified security fears among local business owners, who are calling for increased police presence in the area.
