Jamshedpur: GST Amnesty Scheme brings relief to traders

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Mar 23: The Central Government has introduced the GST Amnesty Scheme from November 1, 2024, providing significant relief to traders and taxpayers. Under this scheme, interest and penalties on pending tax cases related to the financial years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 will be completely waived, provided the outstanding tax is paid by March 31, 2025. In a joint press release, Advocates Rajiv Agarwal and Anshul Ringasia, Vice Presidents of the Tax and Finance Wing of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that this facility, implemented under Section 128E of the CGST Act, will offer much-needed financial relief to traders. They urged all traders and taxpayers to take full advantage of the scheme and resolve their tax disputes at the earliest.

Eligible taxpayers can apply online using SPL-1 and SPL-2 forms. However, traders have reported technical difficulties while accessing the portal, despite the SPL-2 form being live. The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to the government to ensure a smooth online process so that traders can easily avail of the scheme’s benefits without facing hurdles. The last date for application under the Amnesty Scheme is June 30, 2025. In cases where appeals have been filed to shift notices from Section 74 to Section 73, taxpayers have been given a timeframe of six months from the date of order to apply.
