Jamshedpur: The issue of garbage disposal in Mango continues to persist, with no permanent solution in sight. Political disputes and administrative hurdles have further complicated the situation, preventing 100% waste collection in the area. On Monday, garbage collection near Pardih was disrupted when officials from the Forest Department and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) allegedly intervened, halting the dumping process.
The sudden obstruction has deepened the garbage crisis in the Mango Municipal Corporation area. Upon receiving information about the disruption, several political representatives, including public facilities representative of MLA Saryu Roy’s Mango area Pappu Singh, Santosh Bhagat, Pintu Singh and JDU leader Bhawani Singh, rushed to the site. However, by the time they arrived, the officials from the Forest Department and NHAI were no longer present.
Residents were left frustrated as garbage piled up at Pardih, exacerbating sanitation concerns. Earlier, the city manager of the Municipal Corporation and drivers of Tata Magic vehicles were reportedly instructed not to dump waste on vacant roadside land, further restricting waste disposal options.
Despite the growing concerns, Forest Department DFO Saba Alam Ansari denied any disputes regarding garbage dumping. “I have not received any such information about obstruction in garbage disposal,” he stated.
The ongoing political tussle over waste management has put pressure on the Mango Municipal Corporation, which has struggled to implement a long-term dumping solution. With garbage accumulating and no immediate resolution in place, residents fear worsening hygiene conditions in the area. Local leaders and civic officials are now being urged to resolve the issue promptly to ensure smooth waste disposal and prevent further disruptions.
