Jamshedpur, March 4: The scheduled lighting décor display at Jubilee Park and across the city, commemorating the 185th birth anniversary of Founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, was cancelled on Monday due to heavy rainfall. Concerns for public safety prompted organizers to switch off the lights to prevent any potential accidents.

Tata Steel UISL spokesperson informed, “Due to safety concerns arising from rainfall and wet weather, the Founder’s Day lighting in the city, including that in Jubilee Park, will be turned off today.”

Initially planned to illuminate the Park and city from March 3 to 5, the duration of the lighting display may be extended by a day in lieu of Monday’s cancellation. However, an official announcement regarding the extension has yet to be made.

Despite the rain, eager spectators had gathered at the gates of Jubilee Park to witness the lighting display. However, announcements made through loudspeakers prompted authorities to close the gates for safety reasons.
