Jamshedpur: The cold spell continues to grip Jharkhand as several districts recorded minimum temperatures below 13 degrees Celsius, indicating that winter is yet to retreat from the region. However, weather experts have forecast a rise in maximum temperature by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next 72 hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, clear skies and dry weather will prevail across the state in the coming days. Despite the expected rise in daytime temperatures, early mornings and nights are likely to remain chilly.
Khunti recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state today at 8.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Ranchi, which recorded a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius. Jamshedpur, known for its relatively warmer climate, recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, while Daltonganj, Bokaro, and several other locations saw temperatures dipping to 12 degrees Celsius.
In some districts, temperatures remained close to the 10-degree mark. Chatra and Deoghar registered a minimum of around 10.5 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, Gumla and Garhwa were relatively warmer, recording a minimum temperature of 16.5 degrees Celsius.
With the transition from winter to summer underway, residents can expect a gradual shift in temperatures. “A change in wind patterns and increased solar radiation will lead to a rise in day temperatures. However, the nights may continue to be cool for some more time,” said a weather official.
Meteorologists have also advised people to take necessary precautions, especially during early mornings and late evenings when the chill persists. Farmers have been urged to stay updated on weather conditions, as temperature fluctuations can impact crop growth and yield.
As Jharkhand awaits warmer days, residents are experiencing a mix of winter’s lingering chill and the early signs of summer. The next few days will provide a clearer picture of how quickly the transition occurs, with meteorologists closely monitoring the temperature trends.
