Jamshedpur: Fast for repair of sluice gate at Bagbera

Jamshedpur, August 20: On Sunday, the residents of Bagbera township observed a one-day fast at Sido Kanhu Maidan, demanding repair of the sluice gate at Bagbera Shivghat.

The residents tried to draw the attention of the district administration towards this problem by fasting. In this regard, former Zilla Parishad member Kishore Yadav said that the sluice gate was constructed at Shivghat by spending crores of rupees, so that flood situation does not arise in the coastal areas of the river in Bagbeda. Over the years, the condition of the sluice gate has become dilapidated. Due to not opening the gates properly, drain water is entering hundreds of houses in the coastal areas within two hours of rain.

Due to sewage water entering the houses, the outbreak of filth and epidemic is increasing. In view of this situation, the Deputy Commissioner of the district had given necessary directions to the officials of the concerned department to improve the situation. Despite this, the situation remains as it is.

It is notable that due to continuous 48-hour rains in Jamshedpur, water had entered hundreds of houses in Bagbeda’s Naya Basti, Sido Kanhu Basti, Golgappa Basti, due to which people suffered a lot. SDO Piyush Sinha has instructed the departmental officials to take action in this regard but no action has been taken by the department so far.
