Jamshedpur Education dept mulls over ways to improve performance of govt schools

Jamshedpur, Dec 19: East Singhbhum district education department is devising plans to improve the performance of government schools. As a part of one such plan, the department has decided to organize the meetings of school management committee (SMC) and Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) twice every month with effect from 23^rd January 2023.

District Education Officer (DEO) Nirmala Kumari Barelia said the department was holding counseling of teachers to prevent incidents of physical chastisement and stripping of students. A student of Shardamoni Girls High School had committed suicide through self-immolation after being allegedly asked to remove her uniform by a teacher during exam. Such incidents should be prevented from recurring, said the DEO.
