Jamshedpur DC stresses on safety at Durga puja pandals, immersion venues

Admin to keep an eye on social media, employ drones for vigil

Jamshedpur, Sep 28: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav Wednesday issued instructions to various government departments and stakeholders to give top priority to safety of people during Durga Puja celebrations in the city.

The DC was reviewing administrative preparations for Durga Puja at Jamshedpur Collectorate auditorium. The officials of all municipal bodies, block development officers (BDOs) and Circle Officers (Cos) were present at the meeting.

The DC stressed on taking safety measures at puja pandals and immersion ghats. She said a vigil should be kept around puja pandals situated close to electric poles or sources of fire. During havan, precautionary steps should be taken regarding fire safety. Prior approval should be taken from the electricity department for installing electric equipments at pandals, she said.

Jadhav further said that cleanliness should be maintained at puja and immersion venues. Ambulances, divers, life jackets, ropes and other necessary equipments should be kept available at immersion venues. She said.

The DC further added that sound pollution should not be minimized at pandals. She said the district administration would keep an eye on social media and bikers’ gang to keep peace during the festive season.

Jadhav said the district administration would ensure adequate supply of electricity and drinking water during the festival. Proper illumination of streets is being done at all places, she said.

The DC said the district administration would perform videography of immersion procession and would also take help of drones to keep an eye on trouble-makers.
