Jamshedpur: DAV Bistupur hosts first show of Rebel Girls Interactions

Have positive outlook towards everything: Archery Coach Purnima Mahato

Jamshedpur, Nov 20: DAV Public School, Bistupur organised first show of Rebel Girls Interactions, Jamshedpur Chapter virtually on the theme “Bulls-eye Let her fly” on Saturday.

Students of classes VIII to XII were part of the session.

The Rebel Girls Interactions, Jamshedpur Chapter, was inspired by two young, enthusiastic and visionary teenagers, Master Kartikeya Singh, a XIIth grader of Sanskriti School, New Delhi, and Miss Nitya Rathi, a IXth grader of Vasant Valley School, New Delhi .

Keynote speaker for the Rebel Girls Interactions session was National Archery Coach and Dronacharya Awardee Purnima Mahato.

During the session Purnima Mahato answered a wide range of questions like; What is your advice to the future generation who wish to pursue career in sports?, What’s the biggest challenge an athlete has to face in his / her life? What was the turning point in your life?.

Replying to queries, Purnima advised the students to develop patience, concentration, confidence, perseverance, discipline and hard work in life to create their own identity in the field of sports.

According to her the biggest challenge of an athlete is the downfall they face in the career, where they have to follow the motto of ‘never give up’. She also shared that her decision to pursue career in archery and to join Tata Steel was the turning point in her life. She also insisted students to have a positive outlook towards everything as ‘Every day is a good day’.

Earlier, Principal Pragya Singh was of the view that ‘small efforts will make a huge difference’. She also mentioned about the initiation of Rebel Girls as it started with a mission to teach our new generation of girls and boys to respect each other’s achievements.

She highlighted that Rebel Girls isn’t just about girls; it is more about the boys – so that the boys know the fight, the struggles a lady goes through to come at par with men. She motivated children to focus upon their goals, projected goals and work upon their action plans. She hoped that this interactive session will bring positive vibes among students as girls and boys will feel more empowered and will learn to know and respect each other’s feelings.

According to her the very idea of this session is to make the students understand that life seems harsh and unfair sometimes, but keep pushing forward and by the end of the day definitely they will appreciate the efforts made by others to make them a better person.
