Jamshedpur Crime: Raids on to nab Pradeep Churiwala and other family members

Jamshedpur, June 7:  Raids are going on to nab four businessmen including Pradeep Churiwala on charges of abetting suicide of Rourkela based businessman Rahul Agarwal, who jumped to death from Om Tower in Bistupur on May 5 last.

Raids are going on by two different police teams for the arrest of businessman Pradeep Churiwala, resident of Sonari Ashiana Garden, his wife, daughter Varsha Aggarwal and daughter Piyush Churiwala, but the accused has so far managed to evade arrest.

Mobile is also switched off. The anticipatory bail application of all the accused in the case has been rejected by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Kumar Dinesh of Jamshedpur Civil l Court. After the incident, all the accused are absconding after locking the house. Police raids were conducted in many areas including Kolkata of West Bengal regarding the arrest.

 Here, SSP Dr. M. Tamil Vanan said that the FIR lodged on May 6 at Bistupur police station of the accused has been verified in the DSP’s supervision report. If the accused are not caught, then the police will take the advertisement of absconding. Thereafter, attachment and confiscation action will be taken.

It is worth mentioning that on the complaint of brother of the deceased Ankit Sharma, cases related to dowry harassment were registered against Rahul Agarwal’s wife Varsha Aggarwal, his father Pradeep Churiwala, mother Kusum Devi, brother Piyush Churiwala, sister Megha and Rahul Aggarwal in Bistupur police station.

An FIR was lodged against investigating officer Balmukund of Sonari police station also for abetment to suicide and demanding Rs 5 crore.

In the case, under the supervision of CCR DSP Animesh Gupta, the allegations against all the accused except Megha and the investigation officer have been found to be true. In February, an FIR was lodged at Sonari police station alleging that Rahul Agarwal and his relatives had harassed Varsha Agarwal for dowry. Hurt by this, Rahul Aggarwal had committed suicide as he had said in his suicide note and the video statement released before the suicide.
