Jamshedpur Crime: 3 Injured in Scuffle; Gunmen Open Fire at Marine Drive

Jamshedpur: A violent clash and firing incident between two rival groups left three youths injured on Wednesday night, gripping the Ramjanam Nagar locality under Kadma police station limits with tension. Police have registered a case and launched targeted raids to capture the fleeing suspects.

According to the official complaint lodged by local resident Sameer Nag, the confrontation erupted near a public toilet beneath the Marine Drive highway in Bihari Basti. Sameer was standing with his friends, Sunny Gupta and Vikas Tanti, when six youths riding two motorcycles arrived and confronted them.

Dispute Escalates into Violent Street Assault

The attackers initially abused the trio over a previous dispute. When the victims objected, the situation rapidly turned violent. The assailants picked up bricks and stones from the roadside and brutally assaulted the three youths.

During the targeted attack:

• Sameer Nag sustained a severe, bleeding head injury.
• Sunny Gupta and Vikas Tanti suffered multiple injuries while attempting to shield Sameer from the blows.

Accused Fires Three Rounds, Triggering Area Panic

The complaint further states that following the physical assault, one of the accused, identified as Aasu Karmakar, pulled out a pistol and fired three rounds. The sudden gunshots triggered widespread panic among local residents and commuters on the busy highway.

Fortunately, the bullets missed the victims. The injured youths used the chaos to flee the spot and escape further harm.

Fear Grips Marine Drive Residents

The brazen, public nature of the attack has instilled deep fear throughout Ramjanam Nagar and the adjoining Marine Drive area. Anxious residents expressed grave concerns over rising local violence and the unchecked use of firearms in public spaces.

Kadma Police Launch Manhunt

Upon receiving reports of the gunfire, the Kadma police rushed to the crime scene and initiated a thorough investigation. Officers officially registered the case based on the detailed statement of the injured victim.

Police officials have already identified the accused individuals and are conducting continuous raids at suspected hideouts.

“We are investigating this matter with the utmost seriousness,” stated a Kadma police official. “Our teams are examining all aspects of the case, including the firing and the underlying dispute over local dominance. We will arrest the suspects and bring them to justice very soon.”
