Jamshedpur, August 5: East Singhbhum district Congress committee members took to the streets against inflation, GST on food and various essential commodities and ED action against several senior party leaders here on Friday. Hundreds of party workers led by former Jamshedpur MP Dr Ajoy Kumar staged a demonstration before the Jamshedpur Collectorate. They raised slogans against the Central government and demanded a rollback of several major decisions taken by the Centre recently.

District police detained Dr Ajoy, district Congress president Vijay Khan and other party leaders and took them to Bistupur police station in a bus.
Dr Ajoy said inflation was at its peak and the Centre had imposed GST on various essential commodities. He alleged that the Centre was harassing the Congress leaders whenever they raised voice against Centre’s policy decisions. He said the party was ready to go all-out against the Centre’s ‘anti-poor’ policies.

SDO Dhalbhum Sandeep Kumar Meena, senior police officials and Quick Response Team members were present outside the Collectorate to control the mob of agitators.
