Jamshedpur, Aug 11: The election of Sonia Gandhi as interim president of Congress late night at a Congress Working Committee meeting was greeted with much fanfare by party members in the city today. Members led by Jharkhand Pradesh Yuva Congress secretary Rakesh Sahu, distributed sweets among the public at Shahid Chowk in Sakchi during a program organized on the occasion at 5 pm.
In his address on the occasion, Rakesh Sahu said, �With Sonia Gandhi assuming charge of the Congress, a sense of elation has gripped all party members. This decision by the CWC is the best in view of the prevailing political situation. Her experience and understanding will pave the right path for the Congress. Once again the wheel of political fortune will turn when we will be back in power. But for this, we have to work diligently.�
Those present at the celebratory event included Dharmendra Sonekar, Sanjay Chowdhary, Punita Chowdhary, Sitaram Chowdhary, Dipak Gupta, Kamlesh Sao, mSanjay Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Gautam Sao and others.
