Jamshedpur citizens urged to report MCC violations through cVIGIL app

Jamshedpur: In view of the Ghatshila Assembly by-election 2025, District Election Officer  Karn Satyarthi has appealed to citizens to actively report any violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) through the cVIGIL mobile app. He urged voters to “file a complaint in one click and play your part in a fair, transparent, and free election,” assuring that the identity of complainants would be kept strictly confidential.

The cVIGIL app is a digital platform launched by the Election Commission of India to enable citizens to quickly report and track election-related violations. It allows users to report a wide range of violations, including communal hate speech, distribution of liquor or drugs, display of firearms, distribution of money or freebies, fake or paid news, voter transportation, property defacement, and intimidation or harassment of voters.

To file a complaint, users need to download the app on Android or iOS platforms, register with a mobile number and OTP, select the ‘File Complaint’ option, enter the category of violation, attach photo or video evidence, provide the time and location, and submit the complaint. The submitted complaints are then verified by election authorities, and necessary action is taken if a violation is confirmed.

Satyarthi emphasized that public vigilance plays a crucial role in ensuring free and fair elections and said that the cVIGIL app empowers ordinary citizens to become active participants in the democratic process by promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical campaigning.
