Jamshedpur: Bureau of Indian Standards organizes workshop with focus on quality culture

Jamshedpur, Dec 31: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a one-day workshop at Jamshedpur Collectorate on Saturday. The director of BIS Jamshedpur SK Verma and Joint Director SC Nayak led the programme. They said the workshop was organized with the view to develop quality culture.

Other dignitaries present during the workshop included ADM Law and Order Nand Kishore Lal, DRDA Director Saurabh Sinha, District Supply Officer Rajeev Ranjan, ADC Jaideep Tigga and executive magistrate Nisha Kumari.

The BIS officials threw light on various issues pertaining to quality standards and the role played by the organization to secure national economy, provide quality standards, reduce health risks to consumers, create awareness regarding ISI certified products and quality. Various other points such as standards creation, Hallmarking and lab tests were also discussed. The presenters also elaborated on the grievance redressal mechanism, compulsory certification and initiatives taken to enhance the faith of consumers through publicity. They said applications are accepted online for BIS licence and genuineness of materials can be checked on the BIS portal. Complaints can also be lodged online, officials said.

The officials said customers should look for Hallmark sign while purchasing gold to avoid being cheated. They requested one and all to download BIS Care App to verify the quality and purity of their products.
