Jamshedpur, June 23: Founder-president of Bharatiya Jan Sangh, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s death anniversary or Balidaan Divas (Sacrifice Day) was observed by BJP as Smriti Divas on Wednesday, June 23. A programme was organized to the effect at te BJP district office in Sakchi where formed Jharkhand Chief minister and the party’s national vice president, Raghubar Das garlanded the portrait of Dr Mukherjee and along with other party leaders present offered floral tributes and paid their respects.
In his address on the occasion, Raghubar Das said, “We are observing the Balidaan Divas of such a towering personality who had claimed that there could not be two constitutions in one country, two flags, two chiefs and laid the foundation for the abolition of Articles 370 and 35 A,” and he further stated, “The Congress and some other political parties had taken it for granted that Article 370 along with 35 A could not be abolished until Prime Minister Modi with his able leadership and drive saw to the lifting of the Article from Jammu and Kashmir and made the state a part and parcel of India which it was, is and forever will remain. Kashmir is India’s Crowning Glory. The dream of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for Jammu and Kashmir to be an indivisible part of India, was realized by the indefatigable acumen of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that has been the true tribute to the great nationalist, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.”
The BJP national vice president urged party cadres to plant saplings and nurture them and to ensure that Jharkhand and its environment was made plastic and pollution free. The proceedings were conducted by BJP district general secretary Anil Modi and the vote of thanks was offered by Rakesh Singh.
