Jamshedpur, Sept 23: The ASI of Sakchi police station Yogendra Rai was nabbed red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a betel kiosk owner Rajendra Thakur by sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). The incident occurred today afternoon at the ASI�s residence on top of the police station premises.
According to information, Rajendra Thakur, a Gwala Basti resident near Nildih, owns a betel kiosk in front of Super Centre in Sakchi. He was carrying out repair work at the kiosk. The owner of the Super Centre put in a complaint at the Sakchi PS objecting to the repair work being carried out by Thakur. The investigation on the complaint was being carried out by the ASI Yogendra Rai. While showing the complaint letter to Rajendra Thakur, demanded Rs 20, 000 for carrying on with the repair work failing which he would be jailed. Rajendra Thakur complained to the ACB in this regard. Four days earlier, Rajendra Thakur had paid Rai Rs 3,000 to stop the police official�s abuses and pressure tactics.
On Monday afternoon, he went to the Sakchi PS to give Rai Rs 10, 000. Yogendra Rai called him to his quarters above the police station and while accepting Rs10,000 from Thakur asked him to pay the balance amount within a day or two. The ACB officials who were present there immediately nabbed the ASI and took Yogendra Rai to their office. After completion of paper work, Rai will be sent to jail.
