Jamshedpur, Nov 14: The annual Annakoot festival was celebrated on Tuesday at the Shri-Shri Rankini Mandir on Kadam Main Road. Dilip Das, the President of the temple committee, and Secretary Janardan Pandey stated that the Annakoot festival involved the worship of Annapurna Devi, the Goddess of food. “This ritual has been observed for the past 45 years, where a variety of 56 dishes are offered to Mother Annapurna Devi for consecration.”

A large number of devotees participated in the event, receiving the consecrated food (Prasad). “It is believed that those who partake of the Prasad of Mother Annapurna Devi do not face shortage of wealth, prosperity, happiness, and peace in their homes. The tradition of this puja began 45 years ago with an offering of 100 kilograms of rice as Prasad by Pandit S.W. Bhudeb Chatterjee,” informed the President of Rankini Mandir managing committee, Dilip Das.
