Jamshedpur, Feb 4: All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) Party members staged a dharna near Jugsalai railway level crossing in support of various demands of local residents here on Saturday.
Leading the agitation, district AJSU president Kanhaiya Singh said the agitation was called to demand construction of a foot over bridge (FOB) at the railway crossing to facilitate easy crossover to the other side by pedestrians. He said there was no street light or safety net on the newly-built railway over bridge (ROB) and hence it was unsafe for women and even other citizens to use it after dusk, especially late night. In such situations, it would be better if an FOB is built at the crossing, said Singh.
The agitators said two roundabouts should be built on both ends of the ROB to prevent accidents. They said all loopholes in the new traffic system near railway level crossing should be removed as soon as possible.
