Jamshedpur, July 10: A delegation of members of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) led by the outfit president Vijay Anand Moonka met Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on his visit to the city and submitted to him a memorandum raising various issues pertaining to trade and commerce, local industries, airport and public utilities.
Moonka said the city still did not have an airport to connect it with other parts of the country. Due to absence of airport, the city’s development has slowed down, he said.
“As there is no airport here, new businesses and industries are unable to get a foothold here. Building an airport in the city would general employment opportunities and Jamshedpur would fast move on the path of industrial development. Tourism industry would also get a boost,” said the SCCI president.
The Chamber traders demanded that an MSME conclave should be organized in the city as new industries are not coming here. “It seems as if development activities have stopped here. New and big industries should be set up in Jamshedpur or within a radius of 50 km from the city. If MSME conclave is held here, big industrialists would come here. Local traders would greatly benefit by coming in their contact and play a role in industrial development,” said the traders.
The traders also raised issues pertaining to higher education, healthcare, tourism development and the recent hike in holding tax and shop rent by the state government.
Interacting with the traders, the Governor said he would speak to Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on the airport issue and would also raise other issues before the state Government.
