Jamshedpur: In a significant development aimed at bolstering security and enhancing environmental management, a joint meeting of the Aerodrome Committee and Aerodrome Environment Management Committee was convened at Sonari Airport under the esteemed chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri.
The meeting, held at the Sonari Airport premises, was attended by key stakeholders, including Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, airport management officials, and various committee members. The primary focus of the gathering was to address and strengthen security measures at the airport while also discussing strategies for environmental conservation in the surrounding areas.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the airport’s security arrangements was conducted to ensure the highest level of safety for both passengers and airport personnel. Discussions also delved into the management of the environment around the airport, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to address potential challenges.
One key concern raised during the meeting was the presence of birds in the vicinity of the airport, posing a potential threat to flight operations. In response to this, strict instructions were issued to prohibit the operation of any meat shop or slaughterhouse in the area. This measure aims to mitigate the attraction of birds to the airport premises.
Additionally, recognizing the role of trees in attracting wildlife, the local body was directed to trim branches from trees located around the boundary walls of the airport. This proactive step aims to minimize the risk of birds nesting in close proximity to the airport.
In a bid to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, attendees were firm in instructing the local authorities to take necessary actions against individuals found disposing of food items in open areas around the airport.
The collaborative efforts of the Aerodrome Committee and Aerodrome Environment Management Committee, under the guidance of District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri, underscore the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Sonari Airport, as well as preserving the surrounding environment. The outcome of this meeting is expected to set the stage for more effective and coordinated measures in the future, aligning with the highest standards of aviation safety and environmental stewardship.
