Jamshedpur girl succumbs to burn injuries

Jamshedpur: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 15-year-old girl, identified as Resma Perveen, admitted to MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) with severe burns, tragically succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday. The unfortunate incident unfolded on February 2, when Resma Perveen, a resident of B-Block at Dhatkidih in Bistupur, set herself on fire at her home, pouring kerosene oil on herself.

The motive behind this tragic act is believed to be linked to a soured love affair, causing immense distress to the teenage girl. The incident took place in the afternoon when Resma, finding herself alone at home, took the drastic step to end her life.

The distressing situation came to light when a putrid smell, accompanied by billowing smoke, emanated from Resma’s residence, catching the attention of concerned neighbors. Promptly reacting to the alarming situation, the neighbors rushed to her aid and transported her to MGMMCH for immediate medical attention.

Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Resma’s condition gradually deteriorated during her stay at the hospital. Unfortunately, this morning witnessed a rapid worsening of her condition, leading to her untimely demise.

The police, having been informed of the incident, have recovered Resma Perveen’s body and subsequently sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for postmortem examination. The authorities have registered a case of unnatural death, initiating an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
