Jamshedpur Administration begins preparations for Chhath Puja

Jamshedpur, Oct 16: The district administration has initiated preliminary preparations for the forthcoming Chhath Puja festival, one of the most significant cultural and religious events in the region. District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey jointly inspected several Chhath ghats across the urban area to review ongoing arrangements.

The inspection team included City SP Kumar Shivashish, ADM (Law and Order) Bhagirath Prasad, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (JNAC), DTO, SDM Dhalbhum and representatives from Jusco. The officials visited prominent ghats such as Pandey Ghat, Swarnarekha Ghat, Mango Bridge, Domuhani Ghat and Pump House Ghat, among others.

During the inspection, district authorities issued detailed instructions to departmental officials regarding cleanliness, barricading, construction of changing rooms, identification of danger zones, electrical safety, repair of approach roads and security measures at all major ghats.

Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi directed that all public amenities at the Chhath ghats be completed well in advance to ensure that devotees faced no inconvenience during the festival. He emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination and timely completion of preparatory works.

Meanwhile, SSP Piyush Pandey instructed officers to ensure robust security arrangements, including police deployment and effective traffic management to maintain public order.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that this inspection marked the first phase of administrative preparations. In the next phase, a series of coordination meetings would be held with all departments concerned to review progress and ensure that Chhath Puja was celebrated peacefully, safely and in an organized manner across the district.
