Jamshedpur, May 31: The court of ADJ-4 Jamshedpur Rajendra Kumar Sinha of Jamshedpur Court, who is hearing a case of recovery of fake notes, has sentenced the accused Santosh Kumar Ravani, a resident of Tamar, Ranchi, to rigorous imprisonment for seven years during the hearing on Wednesday.
Along with this, a fine of Rs 55,000 has also been imposed under section 498C of IPC. The court said in its decision that in case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional simple imprisonment for six months and one year.
Additional Public Prosecutor Rajeev Kumar told that a total of eight people have testified in the case. The case of accused Uday Kumbhkar and Ram Prasad Manjhi has been separated, both are absconding. The court has issued arrest warrants against both these absconding accused, cancelling the bail bonds on May 4, 2023.
The incident is of December 3, 2014 and an FIR was registered against these accused in Kamalpur police station on the statement of the then station in-charge Kalika Ram.
Kalika Ram said that on the day of the incident, he along with other police officers were conducting vehicle checking near Bagurda pond, when he saw two persons coming on a Hero motorcycle number JH 05-G-0062 from Barabazar side.
During the search, 65 pieces of Rs 100 notes were seized from Uday and 50 pieces of fake Rs 100 notes were seized from Ram Prasad Manjhi. During interrogation, both had told the police that these fake notes were brought from Santosh Kumar Ravani’s studio. On exchange of these notes, there is talk of giving 35 rupees per note by Santosh.
