Jamshedpur, July 2: Rotaract Club of Steel City, under the leadership of President Amit Kumar and the tireless efforts of Shekhar Singh, successfully concluded Rota Year 2022-2023 by organizing eye pledge donation drive. This event aimed to raise awareness about organ donation, particularly the donation of eyes, in an effort to combat the prevalent issue of blindness in India. The drive garnered tremendous support as 52 residents of Jamshedpur pledged to donate their eyes after the completion of their joyful lives.
The event, led by Club Moderator Simran Saggu, was attended by the entire family of the current President Amit Kumar, along with Rishu Ranjan, Secretary elect Prathama Bose, Laxmi Kumari, and residents of Mochi Basti, Birsanagar.
This eye pledge donation drive falls under the flagship project of the Rotaract Club of Steel City, known as “Jeevandan,” which focuses on promoting organ donation. Over the course of three years, the project has garnered significant support, with more than 200 people pledging their eyes.
The initiative received a notable boost when an 18-year-old girl, Guruma Munda, and a remarkable 90-year-old participant pledged their eyes, contributing to the success of the donation drive.
