Jamshedpur, Oct 27: Around 350 quarters of the Railway Loco Colony at Tatanagar will be razed down after Chhath festival. The plan was made during a joint inspection of the quarters by the officials of Railway engineering and electrical departments, Railway Protection Force and Railway Men’s Congress zonal general secretary Shashi Mishra.

Sources said majority of the railway quarters were evacuated due to their dilapidated condition. But several outsiders started living in these quarters without permission, leading the Railway authorities concerned to come up with the demolition plan.

Sources said the RPF officials are running inspection drive to remove encroachment from the vacant railway quarters. Illegal electricity connections were unearthed during the inspection by Railway officials. The illegal electricity connection was availed through hooking from junction box of the quarters, sources said.

Sources said many influential and high-handed people claimed ownership of the vacant railway quarters and earned money illegally by renting out the quarters. There are hundreds of such quarters in Railway Traffic Colony, Lal Building, Gol Pahari and Engineering Colony, sources said.
