J.H. Tarapore School: Emerald House wins overall championship at sports day

Jamshedpur: J.H. Tarapore School celebrated 22nd Annual Sports Day on November 28, 2024, at the J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex, showcasing vibrant student participation and well-coordinated events.

The day began with the Chief Guest, Vibhuti Adesara, Head of Sports Events and Training Centers, Tata Steel, being welcomed by Director Rubina Bodhanwala, Principal Lata Sharat, Vice Principal Rukshana Gardin, School Head Coach V. Arun Kumar, and Primary Sports Head Ekta Mandal. Adesara hoisted the school flag, marking the start of the program.

Following the flag-hoisting, Adesara was honored with a grand march-past led by School Pupil Leader Tasmia Fatma and Assistant Leader Vanya Pandey. Students from the four houses—Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, and Topaz—showcased impressive coordination during the march, with the school band, Red Velvet, adding to the event’s grandeur.

Torchbearers, including Reet Agarwal (SGFI selection), Dhanushree Chowdhury (CISCE National Boxing medalist), Deepanita Manik (National Carrom Champion), Archita Dey (National Table Tennis medalist), and Shreemayi Shyamal (CISCE Sports Award 2024 winner), proudly took the sportsman’s oath.

Young participants from Nursery to Senior levels took part in various races, including creative events like Balance the Ball and Obstacle Race. Special performances, such as the “Little Blossoms” drill symbolizing the empowerment of the girl child and “Rings of Victory” honoring the Olympics, were highlights of the day.

The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, with Emerald House winning the Overall Championship and Ruby House receiving the Best Marching Contingent award. Best Athlete Awards were given to Shambhavi Pathak (High School) and Reet Agarwal (Higher Secondary). The day celebrated inclusivity, teamwork, and sportsmanship, with a heartfelt vote of thanks to the school community for their support.
