Indian Gateball team wins gold at World Masters Games 2025

Jamshedpur, May 28:  India scripted history at the World Masters Games 2025 as the Indian Gateball Union (I.G.U.) clinched the gold medal in the Gateball Championship. Representing India with pride, the team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, defeating strong contenders from several countries.

The winning team comprised Dwaipayan Pattanaik, Umakanta Pani, Sarbeswar Mahapatra, and Dilip Sarangi. Their flawless performance earned India a top spot in one of the 35 sports contested at the prestigious event.

The Indian Gateball Union, headquartered in Bhubaneswar, operates its Jharkhand state unit from Ranchi, led by Balaram Tanti. The victory is seen as a landmark achievement for the federation and for Indian gateball.

The World Masters Games 2025 witnessed participation from 25,049 athletes representing 108 countries, with events held across 61 venues in Taiwan. The gold medal win has brought immense pride to the nation and highlighted India’s growing presence in international sports.
