Jamshedpur, August 4: The Indian Army Football Team is set to take on Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army FC in a crucial Group C encounter of the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup on Tuesday, August 5. The match will kick off at 4:00 PM IST at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
With both teams still in contention for the knockout stage, the match is a must-win for Tribhuvan Army FC, who are playing their final group game. After a narrow 2-3 loss to hosts Jamshedpur FC and a 1-1 draw against debutants 1 Ladakh FC, the Nepalese side will need a full three points to keep their hopes of quarterfinal qualification alive.
“We were very excited to play in the historic Durand Cup. Our boys are ready, and we hope to end the tournament on a positive note,” said Meghraj K.C., Head Coach of Tribhuvan Army FC.
Tribhuvan Army has shown potential in attack, with forward Nirajan Dhami’s goal against Ladakh FC being a highlight. However, the team will need to be more clinical in front of goal to challenge a disciplined Indian Army defense.
Indian Army FT, meanwhile, come into the match after a hard-fought 0-1 defeat against Jamshedpur FC in their opening game. Despite dominating large portions of the match and creating multiple chances, they were undone by a second-half goal and a late red card to their goalkeeper.
Head Coach Manish Wahi expressed confidence ahead of the match, saying, “We have prepared well. We are focused and will try to secure three points tomorrow.”
The encounter promises to be a high-stakes battle as both military sides fight to stay alive in the prestigious tournament.
