IHD eastern centre gets new director

Ranchi, March 3: Ranchi based eastern regional centre of Institute for Human Development (IHD) got its new director in the form of Kumar Rana.

As per a communique issued by the IHD which is a non-profit autonomous institution functioning under the aegis of the Indian Society of Labour Economics (ISLE), Kumar Rana brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of human development, especially on tribal  issues.

A Harvard University alumnus, Kumar Rana led the research team of the Pratichi Trust, an organization founded by Nobel Laureate professor Amartya Sen, for twenty years.

Director of the IHD, New Delhi, professor Alakh N Sharma welcomed Kumar Rana’s appointment and expressed optimism about the Centre’s future.

“I  sincerely hope that Mr Kumar Rana’s leadership will further strengthen the activities of IHD eastern regional centre, particularly in Jharkhand and propel the centre to achieve its goals,” said Sharma.

IHD undertakes research in the areas of growth and employment, livelihood, health and nutrition, education and other aspects of human development.
