House-to-house search for Covid-19 positive cases in Jamshedpur, block-level teams to come up

Jamshedpur, April 3: East Singhbhum district administration has decided to start house-to-house search to identify Covid-19 positive cases. The administration will form teams at block-level and also in three civic bodies of Jamshedpur, Jugsalai and Mango for house-to-house search within three km radius area for Covid-19 positive cases.

East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla informed that separate teams will be formed in Mango, Jamshedpur and Jugsalai and also in remaining 10 blocks of the districts comprising which will help the district surveillance in monitoring those undergoing quarantine at state centres or at homes and will also undertake house-to-house search if there is a positive case.

We need to keep an eye on those quarantine and also identify fresh suspected cases. There are several persons who have returned from abroad and have been quarantined. We want them to follow guidelines, said Shukla.

The team will focus on people having travel history. Special attention will be given to the elderly, pregnant women and those with co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and low immunity.

On this occasion, the medical team would distribute pamphlets on the measures to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They would also be informed about quarantine measures for those showing symptoms such as cold, cough and fever.

After identification of the suspected cases, they would be shifted to the isolation ward at the district headquarters hospital.

The administration is taking other steps to deal with the outbreak. A doctor has been made part of the disaster management control room round-the-clock to provide advice, and has also appealed to people not to panic.

This is apart from the screening, testing and quarantine efforts being taken by the administration.

This is an awareness-cum-surveillance drive. They are informed of the symptoms and asked if any resident has them. If there is such a person, we can move them into isolation.

The idea is to  tackle the novel coronavirus pandemic. Officials will also visit housing societies to check for people with any history of foreign travel, anyone with COVID-19 symptoms and also tracking those discharged after showing no symptoms.
