Jamshedpur: Ahead of the Makar Sankranti and Tusu festivals, the East Singhbhum district administration has imposed temporary restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles within Jamshedpur to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow during the festive period.
According to an official order issued jointly by the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), the restriction has been enforced in view of large public gatherings expected at river ghats, fairgrounds, and other prominent locations across the city.

The ban on heavy vehicle movement will remain in force on January 14 and January 15, 2026, from 4 am to 11 pm on both days. During this period, all categories of heavy commercial vehicles will be prohibited from entering or operating within the city limits.
However, the administration clarified that passenger buses have been exempted from the restriction and will continue to operate on their designated routes to ensure uninterrupted public transport services for commuters.
Officials said that traffic police personnel will be deployed at major entry points and sensitive locations across the city to strictly enforce the order and regulate vehicular movement. Transport operators and drivers of heavy vehicles have been advised to plan alternative routes or reschedule trips to avoid inconvenience.
Appealing for public cooperation, the district administration stated that the temporary restrictions are aimed at maintaining law and order, ensuring road safety, and facilitating the smooth and peaceful conduct of the traditional festivals.
