Jamshedpur Court Orders FIR Against Family for Assaulting 84-Year-Old Father

Jamshedpur: A local court has ordered the Mango police to register an FIR against the family members of an 84-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted over a property dispute. Judicial Magistrate S. Tigga directed the Officer-in-Charge of the Mango Police Station on May 2, 2026, to lodge the case under Section 175 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

Assault Over Property Refusal

The complaint identifies Shadrul Alam as the victim, who alleges that his three sons—Rustam Alam, Mohammed Salimuddin, and Sheikh Amjad Ali—his daughter-in-law, Shaheen Fatma, and two grandsons, Faisal Hussain and Ehtesham Alam, assaulted him. According to the victim, the family members pressured him to sign blank property documents on December 2. When he refused to comply, the accused allegedly beat him.

History of Harassment

Advocates Sudhir Kumar Pappu and Babita Jain, representing Alam, informed the court that the victim previously provided his sons with both a house and a shop. Despite this, the family allegedly began harassing him after he separated from his wife. The legal team claimed the family assaulted Alam when he resisted their attempts to forcibly evict him and seize his signature on documents, leading to his treatment at Tata Main Hospital.

Judicial Intervention

Alam sought help from the court after both the Mango Police Station and the Senior Superintendent of Police failed to take action on his initial complaints. Following the court’s directive, police officials have not yet commented on the forthcoming steps in the investigation.
