Jamshedpur, August 30: Senior Cardiologist at Medica Superspeciality Hospital in Kolkata Dr. Dilip Kumar said that there has been increase in number of heart patients in Jamshedpur and the whole of Jharkhand. Most of the patients are found suffering from heart valve problem.
Valve issue is found mostly in children but if not cured within time it can be lethal. There are a lot of heart patients in the city. Most of them suffer from valve related problems.
Over a period of time this can be lethal. 50 % deaths reported all over the world are related to heart. Cardiac disease is the biggest killer in the world. Now an advanced technology of micro surgery at Medica Kolkata can be beneficial.
No large incisions are required. If the problem is fixed in childhood it can be cured with medicines. If the problem becomes major then changing valve is the only option.
Dr. Kumar was talking to the media persons on the sidelines of the free health check-up camp organized by Medica Jamshedpur and St. Mary�s Church in Bistupur.
Dr. Dilip Kumar further said, Soon Medica Kolkata will be the first hospital in Eastern India to start valve replacement with latest technique. After this there will be no need for incision. Also present was Child heart disease specialist from Medica Kolkata Dr. Anil Singhi.
Earlier Medical Director of Medica Jamshedpur Dr. NK Das and Father Henry of St. Mary�s Church said that we are planning to conduct more such medical camps in the future.
The free health check up camp benefited 352 patients who were treated free of cost and were also provided with facilities like ECG and blood tests. The check up camp was conducted from 9 am in the morning to 4 pm in the evening.
